Olmito is a census-designated place in Cameron County, Texas, United States. Olmito is Spanish for “little elm.” It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the self-described “mesquite capital of the world.”

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
